12:45 – 2:00 p.m. Future Court Technology Trends: The Good , the Bad and the Ugly
Trends in display technology can be extremely confusing. This session will present many issues and concerns regarding expected display changes and methods of planning for them.
2:15 – 3:30 p.m. Roundtable presentation/discussion
· Technology in courts of first instance, including municipal & traffic
The “lower” courts are turning to technology to increase efficiency and lower the costly handling of cases. This roundtable will share technologies used in municipal courts and means of improved processing with the use of technology.
· Remote motion from multi-locations: Has its time come?
Remote motion arguments via video conferencing can increase efficiency and decrease scheduling costs. This roundtable will examine merits of remote motions and potential methods of implementation.

3:45 – 5:00 p.m. Roundtable presentation/discussion
· Handling evidence presentation in the jury room
Technology used in jury rooms is the discussion topic in this session, along with a review of evidence and appropriate protocols when presented at trial.
· Moving digital video evidence from the police station to court
Volumes of digital evidence are collected by law enforcement ranging from accident scene images to video taken by patrol cars. This session will examine methods of moving digital video evidence from the police station to the courtroom while maintaining the chain of evidence.

· Where did that folder go? (File management technology, e.g., File Trail)
Fairfax County Courts (CLCT Affiliate Court) is testing a process to cure the “Where is that file” syndrome. They will share their findings and discuss pros and cons of this form of file management.
· How to handle interactive scheduling: Automation systems at courts
Scheduling is a nightmare for attorneys and courts. Although in its infancy, automated systems can improve interactive scheduling. The National Center for State Courts has been at the forefront of interactive scheduling and will discuss lessons learned and recommendations for implementation.

· Open forum - Technology issues: What, who & where
This session is an open forum to discuss of technology, equipment and related issues that Affiliate courts wish to share or examine for solutions.
· Decreasing “failure to appear” via technology
A plan to decrease “failure to appear” issues has been developed for Gulfport Municipal Court, Gulfport, MS. This roundtable will discuss the plan and alternative concepts.
